Notes & cautions
- This chassis GMC Canyon (2015-2022) uses GM Global B AES — newest GM security tier. AKL requires NASTF VSP SAC (24-digit Security Access Code, $150/yr membership + per-VIN fee via SDRM portal). Add-key may proceed without SAC on some 2020-2022 VINs. Autel IM608 + IMKPA GM cloud + NASTF VSP credential, Lonsdor K518 USA + GM Global B module (limited).
- GM smart proximity or remote head key: ensure existing key fob battery is functional before starting.
- Verify chip before booking (this chassis facelift): GM spans Passlock (pre-2008 econoline) → PK3/PK3+ (2000-2010 Cadillac/Chevy) → HITAG-2 (2010-2016) → HITAG-AES Global A (2017-2019) → Global B (2020+ NASTF VSP SAC required). Mid-cycle K2XX/T1XX facelifts swap chip — confirm transponder ID from a working key with Lonsdor K518 reader before quoting.
- Tool kit context: Autel IMKPA GM module is the dominant add-key accessory (~$5-15/session for Global B cloud). AD Smart Pro ADS178 also strong GM. Lonsdor LKE Smart Key Emulator for K518 simulated-key flow. Xhorse KH100 + GM module. APB112 simulator, G-Box bench EEPROM NOT typically needed. XP400 PRO only for BCM EEPROM bench fallback.
- All existing keys erased. Bring ALL replacement keys before starting — minimum 2.
- No manual AKL for GMC Canyon GM Global B — professional tool mandatory.
- AKL for GM Global B needs PIN (NASTF / BCM read / Tech 2 dealer) + Global B needs NASTF VSP SAC.
- Keep all existing/lost key fobs at least 10 metres from vehicle during AKL.
