Programming procedures
What the job needs
- Add a key: 1 existing working key required.
- All keys lost: no existing working key needed.
- PIN / security code: See risks for PIN source.
- Online / server access: not required (offline programming).
- On-board (no tool) sequence: possible for this case.
- On site: engine off · Maintain 12V+ · Clear IMMO DTCs.
- Bring: Photo ID + vehicle registration. Master key must be available (NOT valet key — valet keys cannot enroll new keys on the pedal-dance procedure).
Tool coverage
Documented for this case on: Autel IM608 Pro II · Autel IM508S · Autel KM100 · Xhorse Key Tool Plus · Xhorse Key Tool Max Pro · Lonsdor K518 Pro / K519 · OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus · AutoProPad G2/G3 · Advanced Diagnostics Smart Pro · Launch X431 IMMO Elite / IMMO Plus. Step-by-step menu paths for each tool are in the app.
Notes & cautions
- This chassis (J100 Land Cruiser, 1998-2007) spans TWO different IMMO chip families: 1998-2002 = Texas 4C (Crypto-1) integrated remote head key, FCC HYQ1512V; 2003-2007 = Toyota 4D67 "dot chip" (Crypto-3) integrated remote head key, FCC HYQ12BBT. 4C and 4D67 are NOT cross-compatible — programming a 4D67 blank into a 1998-2002 vehicle (or vice-versa) will fail. Verify chip before ordering blanks: check existing key for blue/violet "dot" mark (4D67) or absence of dot (4C).
- Both variants share the same TR47 / TOY43 blade family and same 89070-xx PN family pattern. ECU swap between J100s of different chip generations is NOT supported — replacement ECU (e.g., from junkyard) must match the chip family of the existing keys, OR all keys + immobilizer code must be re-cut at the dealer using the donor ECU.
- Verify trim — base, VX Limited, and Lexus LX470 sibling all share the same procedure (Lexus LX470 1998-2002 = 4C; 2003-2007 = 4D67; identical to corresponding J100 generation). Pedal-dance manual programming requires AT LEAST ONE working master key (security-light-cancel ignition cycle).
- AKL on this chassis erases all previously enrolled keys. Bring minimum 2 new blanks matching the correct chip generation (4C for 1998-2002 or 4D67 for 2003-2007). Verify chip before — ordering wrong chip family means scheduled job cannot start.
- For 1998-2002 (4C) AKL: aftermarket OBD path requires Lonsdor K518 or OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus (best-confirmed). Autel IM608 4C AKL on this chassis on early ECUs needs bench EEPROM via XP400 PRO when OBD path fails (older ECU firmware variance). Toyota Techstream is the dealer-side path.
- For 2003-2007 (4D67) AKL: well-supported on all major tools (Autel, Lonsdor, OBDSTAR, AutoProPad, Smart Pro, X431). OBD path with seed-and-key authentication. No dealer-side intervention needed for aftermarket.
