- On-board (no tool) sequence: not available — Audi B9 / MLB Evo (A4/A5/A6/A7/A8/Q5/Q7/Q8 2017+) is newer MQB-derivative with stricter security. Add Key/AKL requires Audi ONLINE security access (factory scan tool flow). Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus + ACDP module pair or Autel IM608 II with Audi MLB Evo package may work for some 2017-2020 builds. Newest builds (2021+) often require dealer with Audi VIN-bound security ticket. Confirm coverage with tool vendor before quoting.

Notes & cautions
- This chassis (VW ID.4 E21, 2021-2025) spans the first US-market MEB EV platform — uses Megamos AES (HITAG Extended) chip like MQB Evo but with MEB-specific cluster security. IM608 II + XP400 Pro + APB112 sometimes works via VW MEB menu for early builds; later builds add SFD2-style protection that can require dealer ONLINE security ticket. Verify VIN-specific SFD2 status before quoting.
- Battery support recommended for VAG MQB session (cluster data dump takes time).
- Audi B9 / MLB Evo (2017+): can require dealer-only ONLINE security ticket for newest builds. Verify Autel/Xhorse coverage for the exact VIN before scheduling.
- VW ID.4 EV uses MEB platform — newer security than MQB. Verify Autel/VVDI MEB coverage before quoting.
- AKL erases all existing key registrations — bring minimum 2 new key blanks (XSMA1EN or compatible MQB-prepared blank).
