Notes & cautions
- This chassis (Elantra MD, 2011-2016 NA) has split key system: separate MECHANICAL ignition key (HY15 blade, NO transponder chip, PN 81996-2M000) + separate REMOTE FOB for keyless entry only (OSLOKA-360T 4-btn Sedan PN 95430-3X500/3X501 OR TQ8RKE-3F03 4-btn GT/Touring Hatchback PN 95430-A5200). Verify trim before quoting — Sedan and Hatchback use DIFFERENT FCC IDs (not interchangeable).
- NO transponder IMMO on Elantra MD NA — mechanical ignition key is a pure cut blank, no electronics programming required. This is UNLIKE the prior Elantra HD (2007-2010) which used PCF7936 ID46 transponder. Cutting a new mechanical key requires only the bitting code (decode from existing key or VIN-derived code service); no tool programming. Locksmiths often mistake MD for HD and order wrong blank — verify generation by year + body.
- Remote fob programming is a SEPARATE step from mechanical key cutting. Hyundai/Kia uses an ignition-cycle DIY procedure (when at least one working remote exists) OR dealer/aftermarket tool (when no working remote, or AKL on the remote side). Multiple aftermarket kits ship the OBD-port programming dongle with the remote for owner-DIY programming (Amazon B0F23WGRYF / B0DJQWNK5Y).
- AKL on this chassis splits into two independent jobs: (1) mechanical ignition key — pick/impression/decode (no electronics involvement), (2) remote fobs — re-pair all new remotes via OBD tool (existing remotes are erased when AKL command runs on the remote-learn module).
- For remote AKL: aftermarket tool path required (Lonsdor K518, Autel IM508S/IM608 Pro II, OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus, AutoProPad G3 all confirmed). Manual ignition-cycle remote pairing requires AT LEAST ONE existing working remote — does NOT cover AKL on the remote side.
- Bring minimum 2 new remotes (OSLOKA-360T Sedan OR TQ8RKE-3F03 Hatchback) and minimum 2 new mechanical key blanks (HY15). Verify trim — Sedan AKL needs OSLOKA-360T blanks, Hatchback AKL needs TQ8RKE-3F03 blanks (not interchangeable).
