Notes & cautions
- This chassis Mercedes GL-Class / GLS-Class uses Mercedes FBS4 BGA transponder (2013-2019). FBS4 covered by Autel IM608 Pro II + IMKPA Mercedes + XP400 PRO for EIS bench (mandatory on AKL), Xhorse VVDI MB Tool + MB tokens (~$30-50/car), AVDI Mercedes. Password cloud calc via Autel IMKPA / VVDI cloud.
- Mercedes EIS is fragile — battery support 12V+ MANDATORY; EIS lockout if voltage drops mid-read.
- Mercedes BGA smart key: ensure existing key fob battery is functional before starting.
- Verify chip before booking (this chassis facelift): Mercedes FBS4 BGA replaced FBS3 NEC on 2014+ facelifts. Some 2014-2016 W205/W222/X253 shipped with mid-cycle EIS swap — confirm transponder ID and EIS version from a working key with Xhorse VVDI MB Tool reader before quoting.
- Tool kit context: Autel XP400 PRO is MANDATORY for EIS bench dump on most Mercedes FBS4 AKL jobs. Autel IMKPA Mercedes cloud token + Xhorse VVDI MB Tool tokens (~$30-50/car) for password calc. APB112 simulator NOT applicable. G-Box bench is BMW-specific. LKE Smart Key Emulator unused.
- All existing keys erased. Bring ALL replacement BGA keys before starting — minimum 2.
- No manual AKL for Mercedes GL-Class / GLS-Class Mercedes FBS4 BGA — professional tool mandatory + EIS bench dump.
- AKL via OBD rarely works on FBS4 — plan EIS removal + bench EEPROM (XP400 PRO / VVDI MB Tool) and 90-120 min job time.
- Keep all existing/lost key fobs at least 10 metres from vehicle during AKL.
- AKL accessory needs: Autel XP400 PRO + IMKPA Mercedes token + EIS bench dump CRITICAL on FBS4. Xhorse VVDI MB Tool + MB tokens alternative path. APB112 simulator NOT applicable. G-Box bench NOT used on Mercedes. LKE Smart Key Emulator unused.
