- This chassis Mitsubishi Montero uses Texas 4D61 80-bit DST80 (2001-2006). Mitsubishi G chip era — covered by Autel IM608 + IMKPA Mitsubishi, Lonsdor K518 USA + Mitsubishi adapter, Xhorse VVDI + KH100 Mitsubishi. Standard 16-pin DLC OBD path.
- Smart proximity or remote head key: ensure existing key fob battery is functional before starting.
- Verify chip before booking (this chassis facelift): Mitsubishi spans 4C (pre-2007) → 4D61 (2003-2011) → ID46 HITAG-2 (2008-2017) → ID47 HITAG-3 (2018+) → HITAG-AES 4A (2022+) — confirm transponder ID from a working key with Lonsdor K518 reader before quoting.
- Tool kit context: Autel IMKPA Mitsubishi module is the dominant add-key accessory (~$5-15/session for AES). Lonsdor LKE Smart Key Emulator for K518 simulated-key flow. Xhorse KH100 Mitsubishi module also confirmed. APB112 simulator, G-Box bench EEPROM NOT required for OBD-only add-key. XP400 PRO only for IMMO box bench fallback.
