Notes & cautions
- Crosstrek PHEV GU (2024-2025) uses 12V auxiliary battery shared with high-voltage hybrid system. Drop below 12.0V during IMMO write CAN brick the BCM (irreversible without dealer XENTRY-class tool). MANDATORY: connect external battery support (CTEK MXS 7.0 or equivalent) before starting; do not run on 12V battery alone. PHEV-specific risk that does not apply to ICE Crosstrek GU.
- No external PIN required for Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A add key. Autel/Smart Pro reads IMMO data internally via OBD.
- No internet required for Autel add key on Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A. Smart Pro ADS2255/ADS2330 requires WiFi for AD server.
- Subaru smart system limit: maximum 4 keys per vehicle. If 4 already programmed, one must be erased before adding new key.
- Crosstrek PHEV GU AKL requires HV system in standby mode (READY light off but ignition on) before tool engages BCM. AKL with HV active will fail at gateway authentication. Confirm READY light is off before starting AKL flow. Aftermarket tool path: Autel IM608 + APB112 + IMKPA; Lonsdor K518 USA does not currently cover PHEV-specific gateway path (verify per VIN before quoting).
- No external PIN required for Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A AKL.
- No internet required for Autel + APB112 AKL on Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A. Smart Pro requires WiFi for AD server.
- Subaru AKL on G-key / 8A proximity requires APB112 simulator (Autel) OR ADC2015 emulator cable (Smart Pro). Verify tool + accessory before scheduling.
- Min 2 new smart keys recommended for AKL.
- AKL erases all existing key registrations — any lost keys will not be retrievable.
- Crosstrek PHEV: 12V battery must be healthy for AKL (HV system off during procedure).
