Notes & cautions
- Impreza 5 (GK/GT) transitioned from Texas 4D60 G-key (2017) to Hitachi 8A DST-AES (2018+) mid-cycle. The chip change crosses the 2017-to-2018 MY boundary and is NOT trim-dependent. ALWAYS read existing key FCC label before ordering blank: HYQ14AHC = 4D60 G (2017 only), HYQ14AHK or HYQ14AKB = 8A H (2018+). Ordering wrong chip = USD 40-80 blank loss + delay.
- No external PIN required for Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A add key. Autel/Smart Pro reads IMMO data internally via OBD.
- No internet required for Autel add key on Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A. Smart Pro ADS2255/ADS2330 requires WiFi for AD server.
- Subaru smart system limit: maximum 4 keys per vehicle. If 4 already programmed, one must be erased before adding new key.
- Impreza 5 transitioned G->8A in 2018. Verify chip type by year/VIN before ordering.
- Impreza 5 2018+ AKL requires APB112 simulator for the 8A H-Master path. 2017 4D60 G AKL also requires APB112 but the IMMO sync sequence differs - tool must auto-detect chip era from BCM before AKL. If tool flashes wrong era, AKL aborts. Confirm tool firmware is 2024-08 or newer for reliable era auto-detect on Impreza 5.
- No external PIN required for Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A AKL.
- No internet required for Autel + APB112 AKL on Subaru Texas DST-AES 8A. Smart Pro requires WiFi for AD server.
- Subaru AKL on G-key / 8A proximity requires APB112 simulator (Autel) OR ADC2015 emulator cable (Smart Pro). Verify tool + accessory before scheduling.
- Min 2 new smart keys recommended for AKL.
- AKL erases all existing key registrations — any lost keys will not be retrievable.
- Impreza 5: AKL tool choice depends on chip (G needs APB112/ADC2015 + G key; 8A needs same accessories but 8A blank).
