- On-board (no tool) sequence: not available — 2010-2016 W212 has no DIY onboard programming. Mercedes XENTRY / DAS3 dealer relearn requires SCN coding certificate. Aftermarket Add Key requires VVDI MB Tool + W212 EIS adapter + tokens OR Autel IM608 Pro II + IMKPA + G-Box3 OR CGDI MB (NEC-era specialty).
- On site: engine off · 13V+ aux + charger · Clear EIS + DAS DTCs.
- Bring: Photo ID + vehicle registration. Title strongly recommended for AKL. VIN cross-check (W204 is widely-counterfeited body — verify VIN-stamp).

Notes & cautions
- This chassis (W212 E-Class, 2010-2016) is Mercedes FBS3 NEC EIS era — sibling of W204 C-Class same era. W212 spans the FBS3 → FBS4 transition: 2010-2013 = pure FBS3 NEC EIS, 2014-2016 facelift = FBS3 EIS with added security counters (still OBD-friendly, not yet FBS4 BGA). Verify trim + production date. AMG E63 W212 (2010-2016) shares standard W212 EIS architecture — no AMG-specific quirk on FBS3.
- FBS3 NEC on this variant (W212) requires EITHER Autel IM608 Pro II + IMKPA + G-Box3 (OBD path, no per-job tokens) OR Xhorse VVDI MB Tool / Key Tool Plus + W212 EIS adapter cable (W212-specific SKU — do not substitute W204 cable, EIS pinout differs slightly) OR CGDI MB (NEC-era specialty, no tokens). Token cost on Xhorse: 1 free daily + ~$5 paid per password calc. Password calc ~10-30 sec online.
- W212 AKL is OBD-friendly on full 2010-2016 run. Bench EIS removal only needed for damaged-EIS scenarios. 2014-2016 facelift builds added EIS security counters that need IM608 Pro II / VVDI MB on the latest firmware — verify before scheduling. AMG E63 / E63 S variants share standard W212 EIS architecture.
- AKL on this chassis erases all previously paired FBS3 keys. Bring minimum 2 new Mercedes FBS3 NEC keys matching trim FCC (IYZDC07 for 2010-2013 OR IYZDC11 for 2014-2016 facelift). Wrong FCC means scheduled job cannot start.
- W212 AKL is OBD-friendly compared to W213 FBS4 BGA — full 2010-2016 run supports OBD AKL via Autel IM608 + IMKPA + G-Box3 or Xhorse VVDI MB / Key Tool Plus + W212 EIS cable. Bench EIS removal only for damaged-EIS scenarios. Bench job adds ~30-45 min vs OBD.
- AKL erases EIS-paired remotes. Recovered old keys will not authenticate. Verify trim: E350 / E550 / E63 AMG / E63 S AMG all share W212 EIS architecture, no AMG-specific quirk on FBS3 era. 2014-2016 facelift added EIS security counters — tools auto-detect, no manual intervention needed.
