What the job needs
- Add a key: 1 existing working key required.
- All keys lost: no existing working key needed.
- PIN / security code: No PIN — OBD direct.
- Online / server access: not required (offline programming).
- On-board (no tool) sequence: not available — 2007-2018 Sprinter W906 has no DIY onboard programming for the KR55 transponder. PCF7936 cloning via Master Sniffer Key is possible WITHOUT programming if a working master key exists, but this is hardware copying, not a manual procedure. True Add Key without a tool is not available on KR55 platform.
- On site: engine off · Maintain 12V+ · Clear EIS DTCs.
- Bring: Photo ID + vehicle registration. VIN cross-check (Sprinter VIN is critical — Dodge / Mercedes / Freightliner badge variants share same VIN format).

Notes & cautions
- This chassis (Sprinter NCV3 W906, 2007-2018 NA) uses Mercedes/Daimler-Chrysler KR55 system — NOT Mercedes FBS3/FBS4 BGA. KR55 is the older Sprinter-only IMMO protocol shared with Dodge Sprinter 2007-2009 and Chrysler Crossfire. PCF7936 (Philips Hitag2 ID46) transponder embedded in the flip-key head, 3-button (Lock / Unlock / Trunk-or-Panic), HU64 blade, OEM PN G750 686H. KR55 is OBD-friendly compared to FBS4 BGA — no token cost, no EIS bench removal needed for most jobs.
- KR55 requires the dedicated MBE Engineering KR55 Keymaker + WSP (Wireless Sniffer Programmer) for full Add Key + AKL coverage on 2007-2018 W906. Master Sniffer Key + PCF7936 cloning is the budget path — copies an existing master onto a new PCF7936 chip without IMMO programming (works only if at least one master key exists). For true AKL the KR55 Keymaker is the only aftermarket tool with full coverage; Mercedes XENTRY is the dealer-side equivalent.
- USA Sprinter W906 RKE (remote portion) is XENTRY-only on OEM remotes — aftermarket flip keys programmed via KR55 Keymaker bundle the remote learn into the same OBD session. EU/RoW Sprinter W906 has different RKE provisioning. Verify market before ordering replacement flip keys — USA PN G750 686H is NOT cross-compatible with EU PN families.
- AKL on this chassis (Sprinter NCV3 W906) erases all paired KR55 keys. Bring minimum 2 new PCF7936 flip remote head keys (PN G750 686H or Strattec 5912622 / MBE Engineering KR55 R Flip Remote). Wrong chip family (e.g., PCF7935 from older Sprinter T1N) will not work — verify chip generation before ordering.
- Aftermarket AKL on Sprinter KR55 is best handled by MBE Engineering KR55 Keymaker + WSP — this is the dedicated tool with documented AKL coverage on 2007-2018 W906. Autel IM608 Pro II AKL on KR55 is documented as inconsistent across firmware. VVDI MB Tool / Key Tool Plus AKL works on EU builds but less consistent on USA spec. Mercedes XENTRY is the dealer-side guaranteed path.
- KR55 on this variant is shared with Dodge Sprinter 2007-2009 and Freightliner Sprinter 2007-2018 (rebadged W906). USA-spec Sprinter has different RKE provisioning than EU. AKL recovers vehicle entry + ignition; some builds also need a follow-up XENTRY visit to re-init seatbelt-pretensioner or airbag SCN coding if the AKL session is interrupted mid-write.
