Notes & cautions
- This chassis (Model 3 1st gen, 2017-2023 pre-Highland) spans Tesla's NFC card key + BLE phone-as-key system — owner-managed via touchscreen, NO locksmith tool involvement. Same pairing procedure across all 1st-gen years (B-pillar reader + center console). For AKL, owner must contact Tesla Service with proof of ownership — no aftermarket AKL path exists.
- Existing authenticated key (card / fob / phone) required to add new key.
- If all keys lost: contact Tesla Service (no locksmith path).
- Tesla AKL (all keys lost) is NOT a locksmith service. Refer customer to Tesla Service.
- Tesla Service can provision new key cards to the account via Tesla Mobile Service or service center visit. Customer must provide proof of ownership.
- No aftermarket tool supports Tesla key provisioning.
Lockout
⚠️ Do NOT use air wedge (flush handles). Long reach through top of window or call Tesla.
