Notes & cautions
- This chassis (Model S 1st gen, 2012-2020 pre-facelift) spans the original Model S key fob era — owner-managed via touchscreen. Locksmith tools do not apply. Existing key required to authenticate new key add. For AKL, owner must contact Tesla Service with proof of ownership — no aftermarket AKL path exists.
- Existing authenticated key (card / fob / phone) required to add new key.
- If all keys lost: contact Tesla Service (no locksmith path).
- Tesla AKL (all keys lost) is NOT a locksmith service. Refer customer to Tesla Service.
- Tesla Service can provision new key cards to the account via Tesla Mobile Service or service center visit. Customer must provide proof of ownership.
- No aftermarket tool supports Tesla key provisioning.
